Asking for It by Louise O’Neill

“What did she expect?”

Louise O’Neill bravely wrote this book covering sexual assault in young, promiscuous people of today’s society and even more bravely asked the question, ‘Did she ask for it?’

Well obviously the answer is no, she didn’t ask for it. No one ever asks to be sexually assaulted. No matter what they wear, how they act, who they speak to and what they choose to post on social media, no young lady (or man for that matter) asks to be touched against their will and sexually assaulted.

I cannot believe the stats of sexual assault in young people of today and I can only imagine that the popularity of social media has helped with these increased statistics. Revenge porn is now a common phrase. When did society become so messed up that such language became an everyday term?

No matter how Emma acted she did NOT ask for it.
